Most managers are often found complaining that they are not able to deliver their best performance due to any or all of these factors: lack of time, lack of resources or lack of opportunity. Efficient managers try to overcome these inevitable problems and work slowly and strategically towards achieving long-term goals for the organization as a whole as well as their own career development.
Prioritize tasks and demands
Often managers are caught up in meeting demands that they think are necessary but actually have less priority than anticipated. The job description document must be read and reread carefully and managers should try to keep the monkey where it belongs. This will leave the managers more time for focusing on their career growth as well as increase efficiency.
Develop a long-term strategy
This applies to both their personal growth and that of the company targets. At all times the focus must be on the long-term objectives and strategic planning must be chalked out to achieve them at a slow but steady pace.
Bend the rules
Efficient managers are observed to have occasionally bending the rules and making trade-offs to make their way around constraints that limit their productivity and efficiency. Develop alternative contingency plans and use them for more impressive results.
