Coping With Stress At Work

Managing stress is all about taking charge of your thoughts, your emotions, your schedule, your environment, and the way you deal with problems.

While some stress is a normal part of life, excessive stress interferes with your productivity and reduces your physical and emotional health. As a result of excessive downsizing and budget cuts, there is an increased fear, uncertainty, and higher levels of stress. Since job and workplace stress grow in times of economic crisis, it’s important to learn new and better ways of coping with the pressure.

Take things one step at a time, and as you make more positive lifestyle choices, you’ll soon notice a noticeable difference in your stress level, both at home at work. Small changes such as regular aerobic exercises, eating small but frequent meals and getting adequate amount of sleep can lift your mood, increase your energy, and make you feel like you’re back in the driver’s seat.

Managing stress at work:

  • All work and no play is a recipe for burnout. Create a balanced schedule for your activities keeping room for family life, social activities and solitary pursuits.
  • Distinguish between the “shoulds” and the “musts.” Avoid or trying to fit too much into one day.
  • Try to reach office in time by leaving home early. Don’t add to your stress levels by running late.
  • Stepping away from work by planning regular short breaks to briefly relax and recharge will help you be more, not less, productive.
  • If a large project seems overwhelming, make a step-by-step plan by breaking the project into small and more easily achievable tasks.
  • Don’t do everything yourself. Let go of the unnecessary stress by delegating responsibility.

Therapy centers now offer energy healing sessions to combat stress to thousands of people who have lost their jobs in the current economic crisis. One such example is of Synergy Integrated Medical Centre in Dubai where energy healers give free workshops to combat the emotional trauma of redundancy, and to prevent people from slipping into full blown depression.
