Best Sales and Marketing Skills

There is very high competition among sales and marketing professionals. Employers, however, are always looking out for the best ones.To show your presence in the market you need to have the following essentials skills:

Know Your Customer
Understand and anticipate the psyche of your target consumers based on the particular segment they belong to. Older women, for example, need to be dealt with in a different way as compared to teenage boys.

Understand Your Customer
Spend more time listening, specially initially, to understand your customers’ needs. A good sales person will make sure he understands completely the customer requirements and specifications before he goes on to sell his stuff.

Build Relationships
Building a customer base and retaining them is not less important than attracting new ones. As a professional marketer, you need to reconnect with your customers frequently to ensure loyalty from them.

Set Goals
Devise your marketing strategy by defining specific goals. Set up a main objective and then break that into smaller ones. All your activities should then be focused towards the aim to increase productivity.

Assess Your Performance
Keep on evaluating your performance regularly to monitor your activities. Keep a log of when and how many people you contacted and how many conversions were made. This will help in formulating the desired marketing strategy.

Acquire New Skills
Sales and marketing skills are also going through extensive R & D as customers and their needs are changing continuously. To keep abreast with the new requirements, update yourself through news, reports, blogs, attending seminars, webinars, and taking up short courses.

Be Passionate About the Product
If you do not like the product, your customer won’t either. If possible, use the product, go over a demonstration, read instructions carefully and list down all the selling points. Show enthusiasm in your sales pitch.

Be a Problem Solver
Customer complaints should be given high priority. Never ignore them and try to address them in the best possible manner. Your customers should know that in case of product failures or breakdowns, who to come to.

Do Not Lie
A skilled professional will not tell lies to sell a product. Customers will lose confidence and dissatisfied customers can bring more harm than fewer sales.
