To some, performance appraisals are a waste of time. This may be due the ineffective system of the appraisals, biasness, professional jealousy or simply the fact that they are prepared once a year and are not a true reflection of the performance of the employee. To others, these are considered a very useful measure to assess an employee’s performance at the job and make decisions on salary increments, promotions, career development and training.
Performance appraisals may have impacts on the employer, the employee and the productive efficiency of the business. Share your thoughts on whether performance appraisals are really necessary?
